(SESSER, IL) — The Sesser-Valier school district no longer has an after school program. School officials were recently notified by the Illinois Department of Human Services that a grant worth almost $64,000 for the Teen REACH after school program had been suspended and to stop services immediately. This program offers homework help, social skills, and athletic and cultural activities for students ages 11 to 17. Seventy-nine students attended the program. It’s unknown at time if or when this program will resume. School officials are encouraging parents to contact local legislators to ask for restoration of the grant funding.
