(SPRINGFIELD, IL) — Unemployment continued to decline in all 18 counties in South Central Illinois when compared to one year ago. The data is not seasonally adjusted. Labor market conditions continued to improve through the end of 2014 in South Central Illinois. Employment gains were reported in Professional-Business Services and Health Care in South Central Illinois. Payroll advances also occurred in Transportation and Wholesale Trade. Mid-winter seasonal layoffs prevailed in Retail Trade, Leisure-hospitality, and Construction. Numerous employment opportunities at the beginning of 2015 were advertised in Healthcare, and Transportation. Job openings also were reported in Office and Administrative Support, Sales, Management, and Production occupations. Employment opportunities included jobs in Computer Services, Engineering, and Installation, Maintenance, and Repair occupations. Jefferson County posted a 6.5% for February, down from 9% from February 2014. Marion County went from 7.3% to 7.1% over the last month after posting a 9.5% showing in February 2014 and Washington County had 4.4% over the past month. Hamilton County registered a 5.8% last month and Wayne County had a 6.9%. Clinton County was at 5.1%.
