CARRIER MILLS, Ill. (AP) — Saline County Coroner Jerry Watson says a 21-year-old man was killed in a fire at a southern Illinois home. The Southern Illinoisan reports the house fire broke out after midnight on Thursday. Ja Shawn Tate of Carrier Mills was pronounced dead at the scene. Watson says an autopsy indicated Tate died of smoke inhalation. The fire remains under investigation.
