(CARBONDALE, IL) — Two people were arrested following a high-speed chase that went through a few southern Illinois counties Wednesday. Zeigler Police Chief Ben Burkhamer told WSIL-TV that the chase began in Marion County with a domestic dispute. Police from Christopher, Zeigler, Royalton, Hurst and Carbondale all responded. The suspect hit a patrol car from Christopher and the officer behind the wheel suffered a fractured wrist. The chase ended when the suspect crashed the truck at the intersection of Route 51 and Pleasant Hill Road in Carbondale. Two people were arrested after a large amount of marijuana and cash was found inside that truck. The suspects names are not being released because the investigation is ongoing.
