Madigan Pushes College Sex Abuse Bill

(Chicago, IL) — Getting colleges to do more to recognize and prevent sexual assaults is the focus of a daylong summit today in Chicago. Attorney General Lisa Madigan spoke at UIC’s student center this morning. She said she’s backing a new law that would require schools to have comprehensive sexual violence plans, beginning with more accurate reporting of incidents. The law would also require schools to provide victims with an adviser to tell them of their options and rights in reporting the allegation and seeking help.
