(SALEM, IL) — A 26-year-old Gallatin, Tennessee man was sentenced Tuesday in Marion County court to 3-years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, after he pleaded guilty to felony burglary. Shane Chandler Utley pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count Class 2 felony burglary. The East Moline Correctional Center was notified of the sentence, as Utley is already in IDOC custody, serving a one-year sentence for felony theft out of Jefferson County. Utley and two brothers, Terrence and Jamar Moore, were arrested in Kentucky after they had entered the Salem Wal-mart in the early morning hours of September 25th, taking some laundry bags, and emptying the unlocked showcase for the iPads and iPods. Walmart employees discovered the theft when they heard an alarm sound as the three men fled through an emergency exit. As the three fled south from Salem, they hit the Walmart store in Mt. Vernon and were about to try the same thing at the Marion Walmart, but apparently had a change of plans when seeing a police officer in the store. Because of their suspicious behavior, however, the officer later attempted a traffic stop after they left the store, but the trio refused to stop and a chase ensued, but quickly ended. Another chase began when the three were spotted near Paducah, Kentucky. That chase resulted in their arrests.
