(Washington, DC) — Congressman Aaron Schock is resigning. The Illinois Republican is under investigation for allegedly using taxpayer and campaign dollars for extravagant spending habits. In a statement, Schock said he cannot continue to serve his constituents with the growing “distraction” around him. Schock has been in the U.S. House since 2009. Once his resignation becomes official March 31st, Governor Rauner must set a date for a special election to find his replacement.
