(Granite City, IL) — No serious injuries are being reported from a series of crashes on I-270 Thursday morning involving more than a dozen vehicles, though lots of slow traffic is. Three cars collided near the Chain of Rocks Bridge around 8 a.m. Then as westbound traffic backed up to Illinois Route 3, more crashes happened. Within about a half hour, Illinois State Police were dealing with five crashes involving 15 vehicles.
