Lawmaker Wants To Get Ride Of Tuition Waivers

(Springfield, IL) — One member of the state Legislature wants to get rid of tuition waivers for children of state university employees. “The News-Gazette” reports State Representative Jack Franks says he will introduce an amendment that would phase out 50-percent tuition waivers over the next four years. Franks says the waivers awarded last year to the children of state employees who had been on the job seven years or more cost those universities nearly ten-million dollars.
