(WOODSTOCK, IL) — A 19-year-old former Salem woman was killed late Wednesday afternoon in a Chicago suburb, when her car slid on the ice and snow and into the path of an oncoming train. According to Woodstock Police, Amanda Williams was pronounced dead on the scene. She was the daughter of former Salem Community Development Director Mark Williams and Sherry (Stinson) Williams. Amanda lived in Woodstock while attending college. Accident reports indicate Williams was traveling southbound on Lily Pond Road when her car skidded on snow and ice and was unable to stop at the activated railroad crossings for an approaching Metra Community Train.
