(East St. Louis, IL) — A state appeals court in Mt. Vernon has ruled that East St. Louis Mayor Alvin Parks Junior’s name can remain on the ballot, even though his petitions lacked the required number of voters’ signatures. The appellate court ruling confirms judgments by the county court and the East St. Louis board of elections. Parks’ two election opponents say they’ll accept the court’s ruling keeping his name on the April 7th ballot, even though he had gathered only 123 of the 136 needed signatures.
