(CENTRALIA, IL) — Just before 10 o’clock Monday night, Centralia police responded to the 300 block of North Maple, on a report of shots fired, and discovered a 30-year-old man had been shot dead. According to Centralia Police detective Captain Richard Densmore, Michael Keith Tolliver was pronounced dead at the scene Monday night from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to the city morgue, where an autopsy is anticipated to be performed today. Densmore says Tolliver was living with a handicapped man, Johnny Duncan, at the home. Duncan said there was a knock at the door, and when Tolliver answered the knock, he yelled something and then shots rang out. Officers quickly responded to the home and made entry into the house through the front, ultimately finding Tolliver in the enclosed porch area on the front of the home. An ambulance was quickly dispatched to the scene and Tolliver was taken to the morgue for autopsy. According to Densmore, a number of witnesses heard the noise and saw four to five males running north in the alley from the scene. Densmore suggests those involved contact police regarding the shooting, before they become implicated in Tolliver’s death.
