(SPRINGFIELD, IL) –Grants totaling over $435,000 have been awarded to 33 local Emergency Planning Committees throughout Illinois by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency to enhance local emergency planning and preparedness for hazardous materials incidents. Locally, Jefferson County will receive $1,040.00, Franklin County will get $30,130.09, Hamilton County will receive $950.40 and Saline County will get $19,924.80. The grants can be used to develop, improve and implement emergency plans, study flow patterns of hazardous materials through the state, and determine the need for regional hazardous materials emergency response teams.
