Munger, Madigan Reject Rauner’s Union Fee Order

(Chicago, IL) — With the backing of Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, Governor Bruce Rauner’s hand-picked state comptroller Leslie Munger says she will not enforce Rauner’s executive order to stop collecting “fair share” union fees. Madigan says Munger is correct not to stop collecting those union fees from non-union state workers because, Madigan says, the fees are constitutional under state law. Rauner says the fees are unfairly forced on non-union workers who are in jobs covered by collective bargaining agreements. Munger’s move opens the door for Rauner to initiate a court fight.
