(Mt. Vernon, IL) — Mt. Vernon will soon be saying goodbye to Radio Shack and seven Metro East locations of the technological gadget stores’ 17-hundred-50 stores will be closed by the company in the coming months. According to information from the company, stores in Shiloh, East St. Louis, Collinsville, Glen Carbon, Granite City, Highland and Alton will be closed. Other Southern Illinois locations in Marion and Benton are also listed among the closures. As part of its bankruptcy, RadioShack is closing some stores and selling others to its biggest shareholder, investment firm Standard General.
