(Springfield, IL) — State workers who are part of the union can stop paying their dues if they want. Governor Rauner issued an Executive Order yesterday, eliminating “fair share” dues for workers who don’t like certain union activities and positions. Rauner is basing the decision on a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling which says it’s unconstitutional to force certain state workers to pay involuntary fees. The move impacts about 65-hundred workers in Illinois. Those who want to keep paying, can do so without penalty.
