(BENTON, IL) — The city of Benton will swear in its new interim fire chief around 8:15 this morning at city hall. The city council last night chose Donald T. Richardson to replace Sean Faires, who resigned last week for family reasons. Richardson has 14 years of firefighting experience serving with the Benton and Ewing Northern Fire Departments. He has also worked as a deputy sheriff with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and most recently as a part-time officer with the Benton Police Department. He is a Franklin County native and resides in Benton. Richardson will serve in his new role until the next city council is seated.
