(MT. VERNON, IL) — A 20-year-old Mt. Vernon man is in the Jefferson County Jail, after police responded to a call of shots fired Friday afternoon. Officers responded to the 700 block of South 23rd on Friday. Their investigation led to the arrest of Orlando Dotts. Dotts was arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail, where he is charged with violation of an order of protection, possession of a firearm by a felon, reckless discharge, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. Dotts was convicted in Jefferson County in 2013 of felony burglary. He was sentenced in that case to 48 months probation, which was revoked in 2014. He was then sentenced to an additional 48 months of probation.
