(Springfield, IL) — There could be a showdown in Springfield over raising the minimum wage. Governor Rauner wants to boost it to ten-bucks-an-hour, but he wants to do that over the next seven years. Democrats say that’s unreasonable and disingenuous. Senator Kimberly Lightford says people are struggling now and can’t wait until 2022 to get a modest raise. She’s working on a plan that would boost the wage to eleven-dollars-an-hour by the year 2019.
