(Chain of Rocks Canal, IL) — I-270 is open again, but delays related to the demolition of the old Chain of Rocks Canal Bridge may not be over yet. A piece of the old bridge hit the new one in Tuesday’s explosion, causing some minor damage to a barrier wall. The bridge is still safe but will need some repairs. The road was shut down again for another blast Wednesday morning because Tuesday’s demolition failed to take down one segment of the westbound side of the old bridge.
