BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) — A southwestern Illinois man who shot and wounded a Fairview Heights police officer during a 2012 traffic stop has been ordered to spend four decades in prison. Thirty-year-old Dallas McIntosh of Centreville was sentenced Thursday in St. Clair County after pleading guilty to aggravated battery of a police officer, aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated fleeing and unlawful delivery of marijuana. Authorities say McIntosh fired at Officer Jeffrey Stratman. The bullet hit Stratman’s flashlight, sending shrapnel into Stratman’s hands and ending his 27-year police career. Stratman was injured when police returned fire but led officers on a chase that eventually ended near his home. Authorities say a search of McIntosh’s car uncovered marijuana and more than $12,000 in cash.
