(FAYETTE COUNTY, IL) A car collided with a tanker truck Saturday morning, just north of Vernon on U.S. Highway 51. State police say the crash occurred at 6:50 am on US 51 in Fayette County, just south of Vandalia. The crash report indicates that a car driven by 31-year-old Kevin Donnals of Farina crossed into the lane of the tanker truck and the units collided head-on, with the tanker truck ending up on its passenger side. The name of the driver of the tanker truck has not been released. Both drivers were injured in the collision. Donnals was airlifted by Arch Air Ambulance to St. Louis University Hospital, while the driver of the tanker truck was airlifted by Air Evac to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. Donnals was cited for improper lane usage.
