(BENTON, IL) — The Benton-West City Economic Development Corporation hopes this is the year that a new interchange will finally be approved at Petroff Road north of Benton. During a recent board meeting, members talked about the interchange that would provide residents with better access to Rend Lake, the industrial parks and Franklin Hospital. Plus it would also alleviate traffic problems around the court square. IDOT has already approved a study about the interchange and members are now waiting on the Federal Highway Administration to approve it. Federal dollars would fund the project.
