(Belleville, IL) — Three Republican congressmen from the Metro East have sent a letter to the director of a federal agency in charge of making maps for intelligence purposes, lobbying to have them consider a site in St. Clair County for its new operations center. John Shimkus, Rodney Davis and Mike Bost are lobbying the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency to move its facility from south of St. Louis to a spot near the Scott Air Force Base. That site is one of four finalists named by the NGA this past summer, and the congressmen’s letter follows a similar effort by Illinois Senators Mark Kirk and Dick Durbin.
