Carmi, IL – Illinois State Police District 19 Commander, Captain Kelly Hodge, announced Wednesday activity and enforcement figures for calendar year 2014. Troopers in District 19, which includes Wabash, Edwards, Wayne, White, Hamilton, Saline, and Gallatin Counties, answered 3,719 calls for service and initiated 15,332 incidents in the field during the year. In addition, enforcement figures totaled 7,003 citations and 12,490 written warnings, including 2,421 speeding citations, 88 DUIs, 1,476 seatbelt citations, 94 child restraint citations, 3,425 written warnings for speeding, and 354 criminal arrests. Troopers also assisted 814 motorists, conducted 2,672 Motor Carrier Inspections, and investigated 444 traffic crashes. Of those crashes investigated by District 19, ten were fatal traffic crashes resulting in 11 fatalities. During the year, 4,306 citations and 4,841 written warnings were issued for “Fatal Four” violations. These violations are most associated with fatal traffic crashes and include Speeding, DUI, Failure to Wear a Seatbelt, and Distracted Driving.
