Quinn Grants More Clemency Petitions

(Chicago, IL) — Pat Quinn didn’t attend the swearing-in ceremonies of his successor, but instead spent his final hours in office at his desk in Chicago, signing legislation and addressing clemency petitions. Monday, he granted 43 clemency petitions and denied one-hundred-19 others. Among those petitions was a sentence commutation for convicted murderer Tyrone Hood who has long claimed innocence in the 1993 death of IIT college basketball standout Marshall Morgan Junior. The victim’s father has long been suspected, though never charged as the killer.
