Carmi, IL – Illinois State Police District 19 Commander, Captain Kelly Hodge, announced Monday activity and enforcement figures for the month of December. Troopers in District 19, which includes Wabash, Edwards, Wayne, White, Hamilton, Saline, and Gallatin Counties, answered 254 calls for service and initiated 935 incidents in the field during the month. In addition, enforcement figures totaled 433 citations and 663 written warnings, including 190 speeding citations, 5 DUIs, 51 seatbelt citations, 3 child restraint citations, 236 written warnings for speeding, and 29 criminal arrests. Troopers also assisted 54 motorists, conducted 119 Motor Carrier Inspections, and investigated 56 traffic crashes. There were no fatal traffic crashes investigated by District 19 during December. During the month, 255 citations and 285 written warnings were issued for “Fatal Four” violations. These violations are most associated with fatal traffic crashes and include Speeding, DUI, Failure to Wear a Seatbelt, and Distracted Driving.
