Dozens Of New Laws Now In Force

(Springfield, IL) — With the first of the new year comes a long list of new state laws, two-hundred-20 of them, in fact. Among them is a requirement that employers provide reasonable accommodations for pregnant women, including bathroom breaks and breast-pumping breaks. Another new law makes a synthetic drug known as N-Bomb illegal and minors are now not allowed to own or use Kratom plants, which produce an effect like opium. E-cigarettes must be kept behind store counters starting today, and refills must be in childproof packages. And it’s now illegal in Illinois to own, hunt or trade gray wolves, black bears and cougars.
