(CENTRALIA, IL) — A 49-year-old Centralia man charged with an assortment of felonies dating back to the 2012 arson at his mother’s home pleaded guilty but mentally ill today in Marion County court. Shawn Reichenbach will be sentenced January 27 for the Class 1 felony residential arson to his mother’s home, as well as for a 2014 charge of Class 4 felony aggravated fleeing police, and a 2014 charge of Class 2 felony aggravated battery of a peace officer. Reichenbach has been held in the Marion County jail since his May arrest when he kicked Centralia police officers responding to his mother’s home on Chipwood Lane in Centralia. His mother’s home was the same location when exactly two years ago Tuesday, Reichenbach set a fire, throwing oxygen tanks into the flames and coming out of the house using a can of ether and a lighter as a torch he pointed toward police officers, calling on them to shoot him.
