WATERLOO, Ill. (AP) — Authorities in southwestern Illinois’ Waterloo are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in the back of a school work truck a day after he’d been reported missing. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 42-year-old William Hale’s body was found Monday by employees at W.J. Zahnow Elementary School. Waterloo Police Chief Jim Trantham says Trantham says the scene showed no evidence of violence, though police are hoping an autopsy pinpoints what caused Hale’s death. Trantham says the school workers thought Hale had fallen asleep in the bed of the work truck, and they called police. But Hale already was dead when officers arrived. Waterloo is just southeast of St. Louis.
