(MT. VERNON, IL ) — At their meeting Monday night, The Jefferson County Board approved Sheriff Travis Allen receiving two credit cards for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department. The cards will be given to the Sheriff and Chief Deputy Clint Taylor. The maximum limit placed on the card is $4,000. Allen said at the meeting that this will help the department especially with the use of online retailers for items that include equipment and office supplies, as well as hotel rooms for personnel in case of emergency prison transfers. The county board agreed to this on the condition that the monthly statements are shown to the board.
