(Springfield, IL) — A Chicago couple has been found guilty of pocketing millions of dollars in state grant money. Businessman Leon Dingle and Karin Dingle were convicted Wednesday of 17 counts of conspiracy, mail fraud and money laundering. The pair was accused of using three-point-four million dollars from Illinois Department of Public Health grants for their own personal use. Prosecutors say the Dingles bought luxury cars, paid for the renovation of vacation homes in Georgia and South Carolina and covered yacht club expenses. The couple can face dozens of years behind bars and their sentencing is set for April 9th.
