2019 WMIX Easter Egg Hunt

Join WMIX for our annual Easter Egg Hunt on Friday, April 19, 2019, from Mt. Vernon’s Veteran’s Park. You’ll find WMIX and our friend the Easter Bunny as well as other friendly WMIX Faces at the Northwest Shelter. Find our detailed itinerary below!

WMIX will broadcast live with your opportunity to win great prizes from 2:30-5.

Registration will begin that afternoon at 4:00 PM and the hunt will start at 5:00 pm. The hunt will go on rain or shine with 4 different age groups. We’ll hide eggs for the following age division (in years): 0-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12. We have a little over 10,000 eggs, including a chance for one lucky hunter in each division to win a pair of Holiday World Tickets!

Detailed Event Itinerary (schedule subject to change):
2:00 PM – WMIX Live Broadcast begins with Doug live from Veterans Park

3:00 PM – University of Illinois Extension fun begins!

• *Illinois Food Nutrition Education Program’ healthy snack activity station
• *4-H youth with Monarchs on the Move learning about pollinators.
• *Community Garden Bed Tours (Community Garden Beds members and Master Gardeners will be planting vegetable or sunflower seeds with the children into containers for them to take home)
• *Dr. Laurie George, University of Illinois Extension Small Farms Local Foods Educator, will be helping some children with the planting of seedling vegetables into the donation beds. She will explain the which cool season vegetable they will be planting and when to start the warm season vegetables.

4:00 PM – Registration begins for Egg Hunt for all four age groups

4:55 PM – Registration for Egg Hunt closes

5:00 PM – Easter Egg Hunt BEGINS.
