MT. VERNON, IL — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has seen an increasing number of citizens wanting to assist law enforcement officials and build a stronger relationship in the fight against crime. Sheriff Jeff Bullard says one way to do so is to become a member of the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association.

Individuals choosing to join the voluntary program can do so for as little as $20, while business memberships begin at $50. Sheriff Bullard says the program was formed to provide citizens with an opportunity to lend support for more effective law enforcement efforts and to help local policing professionals protect the lives and property of citizens.

Individuals that do not receive a membership appeal through the mail and would like more information, they can go to ilsheriff.org or call the Sheriff’s office at (618) 244-8004.
