MT. VERNON — Abraham Lincoln’s birthday was February 12th, and to honor the former president, one local classroom got to hear more Lincoln from a judge who presides over a courtroom Lincoln once practiced law in.

Appellate Court Justice David Overstreet read to third graders in Mrs. Baumhoegger’s class at the Osborne Primary Center Wednesday as a part of the “Page It Forward” project sponsored by the Illinois Judges Association.

Overstreet has been a part of the program for many years and says he loves getting in the classroom with the kids.

Each child was also given a copy of the book Overstreet read, “Abe Lincoln’s Hat”.
