WEST FRANKFORT — The West Frankfort City Council Tuesday night tabled the issue of placing no parking signs in the 1200, 1300 and 1400 blocks of East Oak Street.

Council members decided to have the codes department send out letters asking residents to resolve the issue on their own. If not, then this issue will be addressed at the next council meeting.

Last month, West Frankfort Police Chief John Prudent made a request to the city council to place no parking signs in the three blocks mentioned on East Oak, but the council left the issue to him to do the research and report back to them at a future date.

In other business, the city approved an appropriation of $66,700 for its portion of the $3,450,000 Illinois 149/I-57 East to Douglas Street with Multiuse Path Project, purchasing a new truck for the police department from Weeks Chevrolet for $22,242 through the Police Street Fines account, accepted a bid of $7,400 to apply synthetic rubber around AC units and ridge and repair various holes on the police department’s roof and approved advertising for bids for the codes department to demolish properties at 1704 E. Oak St., 408 N. Cochran, 201 N. Jackson, 603 S. Brown, 1210 W. St. Louis and 214 Washington.
