VANDALIA — The Fayette County Coroner says his office, along with Vandalia Police and the Illinois State Police are investigating a shooting in Vandalia that left one man dead.

According to reports, Vandalia city police were called around 10:20 p.m. Sunday to the scene of a shooting in Vandalia. When police arrived, they found a white male dead.

Fayette County Coroner Dave Harris was notified. When he arrived, Harris requested Vandalia police to contact Illinois State Police Crime Scene agents and State Police special agents.

An autopsy was performed Tuesday morning at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham but no other details have been released at this time.
