WEST FRANKFORT — The city of West Frankfort says people living in a building that has been deemed “dangerous and unsafe” by a recent Franklin County Circuit Court order have just a couple of more days to find a new home.

According to a press release issued on the City of West Frankfort Facebook page last week, the building, located at 101 W. Main St., has been ordered to be demolished and all garbage, debris and other hazardous materials be removed immediately.

The city posted signs on the building on Nov. 13 notifying all occupants to vacate the premises within 7 days.

The city has enlisted the assistance of Crosswalk to help the residents secure alternative housing. Crosswalk does have funds available to assist these residents in finding a new home. Also, Trinity Methodist Church is assisting with immediate housing in a motel or shelter.

The city encourages anyone needing assistance in finding alternative housing to contact Heather at Crosswalk at 937-3581 ext. 151.
