MARION, IL  — Three people recently plead guilty to various crimes in Williamson County and were sentenced to state prison.

Williamson County State’s Attorney Brandon Zanotti says 41-year-old Randall Stanton of Christopher plead guilty to forgery – a Class 3 felony – and was sentenced on Oct. 11 to three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Carterville Police responded to a reported forged check being used at Borowiak’s IGA on June 4th of this year. The investigation revealed that Stanton used a forged check at the store.

Stanton was ordered to pay restitution to the grocery store. He has a criminal history, including prior forgery convictions.

Thirty-one-year-old Justin Keith of New Burnside pleaded guilty to theft – a Class 2 felony – and was sentenced Oct. 11th to four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

On March 18th, 2016, Keith entered the property of Black Diamond Harley Davidson in Marion and proceeded to drive off with one of dealership’s motorcycles displayed for sale. After a thorough investigation, Marion Police were able to track down Keith and the motorcycle.

Keith has a criminal history, including a prior burglary conviction. He must serve two years of mandatory supervised release following his release from IDOC.

Twenty-two-year-old Jermaine Ross of Carbondale pleaded guilty to burglary – a class 2 felony – on Oct. 11 and was sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

On September 4, 2017, Marion Police responded to the Goofy Golf at Ray Fosse Park on a report of a burglary. The window in the office had been broken and items had been stolen from the facility.

Ross was found in possession with some of the items matching the description of those missing from the golf facility. DNA testing of blood on the broken window also indicated a match to Ross’s blood.

A restitution hearing has been set for Dec. 19. Ross has a criminal history, including a prior burglary conviction. He must serve two years of mandatory supervised release following his release from IDOC.
