MT. VERNON — The organization SAFE, or Sexual Assault and Family Emergencies, has released a new tool to allow sexual assault victims to report the incident and find out what resources they have available to them. The tool, called “Seek Then Speak” includes a website, toll free phone number to call, or a mobile app for victims to gather info, explore options, and take action when they are ready.

Lisa Metcalf is a Medical and Legal Advocate for SAFE. She says the goal is for more victims to speak up by making them as comfortable as possible.

The tool is available for anyone in the 11 counties SAFE serves, including Bond, Fayette, Effingham, Clinton, Marion, Clay, Washington, Jefferson, Wayne, Hamilton, and White Counties.
