Gabriel Allen Horn, 35, a resident of Flora, IL (formerly of Fairfield, IL) passed away with his family by his side at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL on Friday, September 20, 2019.

Gabriel was born on February 25, 1984 to James Allen Horn and Katie Castleberry (Johnson).

He was an oilfield worker for Bangert Casing Pulling Corp. in Clay City, IL.  Gabriel loved hunting, fishing, camping, and being outdoors.  He also enjoyed playing pool, darts, and softball.  What he enjoyed most was spending time with his children, his nieces and nephew, and his family.

Gabriel is survived by his three children, Gage Schloemer of Washington state, Asher James Horn, Shianne Horn, and their mother Jessica Elledge, all of Louisville, IL; Mother Katie Castleberry and husband Raymond of Flora, IL; father James Horn of Mt. Vernon, IL; sister Rebekah Bell and husband Billy of Dix, IL; 2 brothers: Joshua Horn and James Daniel and wife Veronica, all of Flora, IL; and stepsister Latoshia Castleberry, also of Flora, maternal grandparents LaVern & Dorothy Johnson of Keenes, IL; paternal grandmother Emma Lou Horn of Mt. Vernon, 4 nieces and nephews:  Kaeli Perez-Horn of Xenia, IL; Gracelyn & Katelyn Bell of Dix, and Cameron Horn of Louisville.  Several aunts & uncles and extended family members also survive.

He was preceded in death by a grandfather Carroll Horn, 2 cousins: Rachel Horn and Vance Horn, and an uncle Lavern Johnson, his great grandparents, and his great aunts and great uncles.

Funeral Services for Gabriel Allen Horn will be held at 6 pm on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the Wayne City Church of God in Wayne City, IL with Gabriel’s uncles Rev. Wayne Johnson and Rev. Wes Johnson officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4 pm – 6 pm at the church on Wednesday.

A memorial service will take place at a later date followed by burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mill Shoals, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to assist the family with funeral costs would be appreciated and can be made out to Katie Castleberry, or to the Gift of Hope to promote organ & tissue donation.  Memorials will be accepted at the Wayne City Church of God or at Young Funeral Home in Wayne City, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
