MVPD, JCSO Combined Task Force Helping Both Agencies Combat Drug Issues in the Area

MT. VERNON — The Mt. Vernon Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office are seeing the benefits of a combined drug task force. After the latest drug sweep Wednesday, the leaders of both agencies are talking about how the task force is benefitting the city and the county.

Mt. Vernon Police Chief Trent Page says the combined unit has helped officers to be proactive in taking on the drug issues in the community.

Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Bullard also believes the combined manpower is having benefits for the community. He also commends those on the task force that work diligently to get drugs off the streets.

The complete list of arrests made in the warrant sweep Wednesday is below:

Ronald L Mount, 24 YOA, from Mt. Vernon, Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine.

Markeize Z Haynes, 28 YOA, from Mt. Vernon, Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine.

Clarissa M Drew, 28 YOA, from Bluford, Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine.

Jason A Caratachea, 39 YOA, currently incarcerated in the Illinois Department Of Corrections, from Mt. Vernon, Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine.

Shawn M Flatt, 41 YOA, from Mt. Vernon, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine.

Fernandus D Jones, 43 YOA, currently incarcerated at Jefferson County Justice Center, from Mt. Vernon, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (heroin).

Bart L Edmison, 48 YOA, from Opdyke, Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine (2 counts).

Aaron D Gladney, 33 YOA, from Mt. Vernon, Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance (heroin). Gladney is currently on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections for 2 counts of Domestic Battery with Prior and Conditional Discharge for Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine.

David M Mustread, 36 YOA, from Mt. Vernon, Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (heroin).

Kyler L Smith, 26 YOA, from Mt. Vernon, arrested by Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine.

David W Lamar, 52 YOA, from Woodlawn, Possession of Methamphetamine.
