Paul Gene Brenton, 88, of Centralia, and formerly of Farrington Township, passed away on Saturday morning, July 14, 2019, at Fireside House of Centralia.

He was born in Jefferson County on June 13, 1931, the son of James Ellis Brenton and Muriel Irene (Lowe) Brenton -Fally.

He married Helen Miller, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 22, 2004.

Mr. Brenton served with a Tank Division of the US Army, in the Korean War . He worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for over 40 years, and after retiring from the railroad, he began farming.

He is survived by a brother, Jim Brenton of Centralia;  two sisters, Eunice Weems and husband J.C. of Woodlawn, and Hazel Meinhart of Effingham; a sister in law, Donna Fally of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was also preceded by his parents; a brother, Phillip J. Fally; and step-father, Griff Fally.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at 11 a.m., at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with Marty Mills officating. Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.
