CENTRALIA — Bail has been set at $250,000 for a 36-year-old Centralia woman charged in Marion County court with threatening a witness in the May shooting death of 13-year-old Jaden Lee Krauss at her Centralia home.

Nicole Marie Kirgan was formally charged Monday with two Class 2 felony counts of harassment/intimidation of a witness.

According to State’s Attorney Bill Milner, after Kirgan was freed on $5,000 bond on obstruction charges stemming from the Krauss case and two burglary cases, she began threatening her live-in boyfriend Allen Boettcher who was in the home the night Krauss was shot in the head.

Boettcher then went to police who applied for an eavesdrop warrant and then outfitted Boettcher with a wire.

The subsequent recordings from that wire reportedly have Kirgan telling Boettcher that he should claim that a head injury had affected his memory of what happened the night Krauss was shot.

She told him if he didn’t lie, she would tell authorities about his involvement in a retail theft incident in Clinton County and that she had witnesses lined up to say he was the one who destroyed evidence from the Krauss shooting.

Kirgan was arrested Friday in connection with the recordings that were made July 7 and July 11.

Milner asked for Kirgan’s bail to be set at $250,000 because when she allegedly committed the latest offenses she was free on bond for the obstruction charges.

Those charges accuse her of lying to police and telling them the doorbell surveillance video at her home the morning of Krauss’s shooting did not properly record to her phone.

However, prosecutors say Boettcher told police that Kirgan had asked him for help erasing the clips. Police ultimately obtained the video directly from the company.

Prosecutors say the video showed Krauss being placed on the porch of the home by the15-year-old juvenile who pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the case.

Other clips reportedly showed Kirgan’s 15-year-old son running from the home while waiving the gun believed used to shoot Krauss and making plans to dispose of the gun.
