MCLEANSBORO — The McLeansboro City Council approved an agreement for central dispatch services brought to the council by a joint committee at Tuesday night’s meeting.

McLeansboro City Clerk Fred Vallowe gives the details of the contract passed by the city council that will go to the Hamilton County Board next week.

The council also approved John Nathan Taylor as the next Police Chief in McLeansboro. Taylor has been with the department since 2007, and he replaces David Filkins who took a job with the Benton Police Department. Council members also approved the hiring of Jake Weaver as a full time police officer effective July 25th.

In other city business, the council voted to purchase a dump truck from Teffertiller Motors in McLeansboro for just under $53,000. The closing date for the City Pool this summer was also set for August 17th.
