WAMAC, IL — The Marion County Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian struck and killed by a Burlington North freight train early Saturday morning in Wamac as a 31-year-old Patoka man.

Justin Kellerman was reportedly lying on the tracks Saturday morning when the train crew struck what they believed to be a bag of clothes. A crew member investigating what they had struck, however, discovered they had actually struck a person. Proper authorities were contacted and the Marion County Coroner’s Office pronounced Kellerman dead at the scene.

According to Coroner Troy Cannon, a preliminary autopsy was conducted on Kellerman Monday and ruled out foul play as a cause of death. Cannon says results of pending toxicology tests may provide a better indication as to the circumstances of the incident.

Wamac police continued their investigation Monday into the incident.

Irvin-Macz Funeral Home in Centralia is in charge of arrangements.
