MARION COUNTY — Bail was set at $10,000 Tuesday for a 21-year-old Salem man charged in Marion County court with the early Tuesday morning stabbing of a woman near 10th and Hickory in Centralia.

According to police, Austin Crenshaw stabbed the woman around 2 a.m. Tuesday as they were getting out of her car and she allegedly became unruly. Crenshaw then left the scene with a second woman who was in the vehicle and they were stopped by sheriff’s deputies near Seven Hills Road in rural Odin.

Crenshaw was subsequently arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail. The other woman was released without charge. He was formally charged with Class 3 felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Crenshaw is next scheduled to appear in court June 11th for a preliminary hearing and first appearance with his court-appointed attorney.
