CARBONDALE — A Carbondale man has been arrested in connection with a Friday morning disturbance on a school bus heading to Carbondale Community High School.

According to Carbondale Police, 19-year-old Jekiary T. Anderson was arrested Saturday morning in the 1400 block of North Illinois Avenue. Anderson is lodged in the Jackson County Jail on charges of aggravated unlawful use of weapon in reference to the incident on the school bus. Police continue to investigate. Police say the incident involved Anderson and other unnamed acquaintances. Anderson allegedly fled from the bus and never arrived at the high school. Police also reported that one of the suspects had a weapon.

Police began their investigation and the high school went on lock-down for precautionary purposes after 7:30 a.m. Once officers determined there were not any threats to students, faculty or staff, the school lockdown was lifted shortly after 9 a.m. No one was injured during this incident.
