MOUNT VERNON — Mt. Vernon police arrested four people Thursday afternoon in connection to calls reporting shots fired in the Wendy’s parking lot.

Sources say callers reported two men fighting in the parking lot and shots fired. Upon their arrival around 1:30 p.m., officers found to males and two females, along with a black Chevy Avalanche with Iowa plates. Multiple MVPD officers, along with Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the incident.

Both men and both women were reportedly taken into custody and transported to the Mt. Vernon Police Department. The Chevy Avalanche was towed to the police department and multiple firearms were reportedly seized.

Mt. Vernon police were not yet releasing information about the reported incident, which remains under investigation.
