PERRY COUNTY — Attorneys are working on a possible trial date for a 51-year-old man accused of gouging out the eyes of a Nashville, Illinois man earlier this year.

A pretrial hearing was held Tuesday for Allen Joseph Fisher who was charged in April with battery causing disfigurement.

Investigators believe Fisher chased down 46-year-old Robert Pfister and eventually blocked his car on a dead-end road before gouging his eyes to a point where Pfister may lose his eyesight permanently.

During a pre-trial hearing Tuesday, prosecution and defense attorneys worked out some issues with evidence in the case.

They’re still waiting on a few different recordings as well as lab results from tests on items inside Fisher’s car.

Prosecutors have until the end of the month to submit things that support their case and the defense will have a few weeks to respond before a motion hearing August 30.

Attorneys said there’s a possibility a trial could be set in late October. A final pre-trial hearing would occur a couple weeks before that.
